Culvert Replacements to Begin in Skagit Valley

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Skagit County Public Works will replace two culverts in east Skagit County during summer 2026, closing Concrete Sauk Valley Road from July 27 to October 23 and South Skagit Highway from August 3 to October 26.

The projects aim to remove barriers to fish migration and address structural deficiencies in the existing culverts. The Stevens Creek project will replace a culvert on South Skagit Highway with a fish-passable structure designed to restore natural stream processes and improve roadway resilience.

Construction includes removal of old culverts, installation of new structures, stream channel reconstruction, and environmental restoration. Local access for residents, emergency services, and essential services will remain available during closures.
