I-5 Lane Closure, US 2 Work Continue in Skagit Valley

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced several highway construction and closure updates effective this week in Skagit Valley.

Starting Saturday, Aug. 15, the left lane of northbound Interstate 5 will close between Samish Way and Iowa Street for maintenance. The Iowa Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will also close from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Meanwhile, US 2 west of Cashmere will have single-lane closures in both directions Mondays through Thursdays until mid-to-late September for paving work.

WSDOT projects will continue through August and September, including a closure of SR 161 between 28th Avenue South and Military Road South until Aug. 17, and a closure of both directions of SR 9 south of Mount Vernon Big Lake Road until 6 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, for fish passage installation.
