Skagit Valley Road Work Continues Through Week

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

WSDOT announced multiple road construction projects affecting Skagit Valley this week. Starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, SR 536 will close to eastbound traffic until early 2027 for bridge repainting, requiring eastbound drivers to detour via SR 20 and I-5. The bridge remains open to westbound traffic and all pedestrians and bicycles.

Other projects include alternating traffic on SR 9 near Mount Vernon from Sept. 8-10 for fish passage construction, and lane reductions on SR 534 for rumble strip installation. The SR 536 utility work from Sept. 9-10 will also require alternating traffic with flaggers from Bradshaw Road to Beaver Marsh Road. All projects are scheduled to end by Sept. 10, except for the SR 9 fish passage project, which continues until Sept. 24.
